Hi Anna Banana,

Yes, I know just what you mean about forcing an extremely long and lingering death upon someone for the suffering they have caused.

While I'm a staunch supporter of human rights, as far as I see it, if a person denies the rights of another - human or not - they forfeit their own rights. The level of forfeiture obviously depends on the level of abuse.

I don't know where you live but in England the victim's rights are often overlooked in comparison to the villain's. For example, my sister's house was burgled and vandalized. The police caught who did it. He got a little slap on the wrist and told what a naughty boy he was and that was it. There was no mention of him paying for the damage he'd done, replacing what he'd stolen, or paying compensation for the emotional trauma he'd inflicted. But that's okay because his rights weren't abused.

But that's a very minor incident. People all over the globe are abused and just have to put up with it. The only ones who suffer more abuse are 'dumb' animals. It's sickening. Truly sickening.

I've recently been fascinated by a BBC show called "Last Chance to See" ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/lastchancetosee/ ). Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine explore the world trying to find endangered species that a similar show featured 20 years ago. It's very interesting and, at times, very moving. It's awful to think that we've learned so little in 20 years. We've made some headway, but in reality, it's way too little way, way too late.

I pray we do a better job over the next two decades!

I happened to stumble upon this blog while looking for some information on the Amazon and the creatures it beholds. I read through it and couldn't help but make a comment.

Anyone who has ever fallen in love with a dog, cat, hamster, snake-be it any living breathing thing- can vouch that it has a soul.

It is the human being that I sometimes have to wonder on the existance of a soul. It both disgusts and amazes me how somebody- who is supposed to posess such a thing- can torture another living being!

Also- as far as that artist is concerned- I would give my left foot to be able to tie him up and starve him for display. Only I would give him just enough food to keep him barely alive- so that he may suffer and experience what it is like to starve for that much longer. Yeah- maybe I would be stooping to his level, but it ourages me to know that a person can be so wasteful of another's life.

Hi Kathy,

That's so kind of you to say. Thank you.

No, I haven't moved the blog. (But I have been away on vacation which is why this reply is a late.)

Way back in February this blog was hijacked so I took it down for a while to resolve the matter. It was then that I realised just how much of my time it was eating away. Believe it or not, just one weekly post was taking about 10 hours to write, edit, find suitable photos for, reply to all the comments, and conduct general maintenance. As you'll appreciate, 10 hours per week is a huge amount of time so I decided to take a break and devote as much time as possible to writing another book.

I do still have many ideas for blog posts, so mean to start posting again at some point. I'm just not sure when as there never seems enough time to cram everything into a day, despite working very long hours.

So, I'm sorry for forsaking you and all my other loyal readers and hope to have something for you in the future.

Thanks again, Kathy,
Steve

'Dog' does have a name (Natividad), and a facebook petition, for those of use interested in signing. THe group is literally named Please Sign this Petition.

http://www.petitiononline.com/13031953/petition-sign.html is the website to actually sign.

Basically it's to say the artist :Guillermo "Habacuc" Vargas Jimenez can not kill another dog.

You've raised some interesting points, Kathy.

I've always hated the 'being punished for something you've done in a past life' idea, though. It's so unfair. If there is any sort of higher power - which considering the state of the world, I doubt there is in the conventional sense - wouldn't it bring justice as and when it was called for, not later? To punish something for a deed it has no recollection of or control over is barbaric. Not a term one usually associates with a god.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

No, animals don't HAVE souls, neither do we. But we all, humans, animals, plants, All, ARE souls which are trapped in these bodies, no doubt due to our actions according to our free will! God, Goddess, Universe, Allah, Great Spirit, whatever you want to call it (yes it; no body, hence no gender) gave the souls free will, knowing full well what we would do with it but also knowing full well that was the only way we could all be cleansed and purified in order to return home.

It offers me some comfort to know that these mistreated animals may, in some past life, have treated another soul in like manner and are thereby receiving their just punishment , not from God, but from Its opposite.

Will we know each other in the next dimension?? Maybe, depends on which dimension. If we go to our home we will all be One!

I could write pages and pages about this but anyone who wants to know more will have to ask!

Thanks, Ethan.

Yes, I know just what you mean about heaven. In fact, I'm going to be doing another post on this subject but from a religious angle as, from the comments on another post, it's obvious that there's still a lot more area to cover.

If you haven't seen the other post, I'm sure you'll be interested in that, too. Check it out here:

Please don't beat yourself up. Margarita. The Spanish are not the villains here.

In England, we've only just banned fox hunting in which a group of riders on horseback and a pack of dogs used to chase a poor little fox all over the countryside till it was exhausted and terrified, and then rip it limb from limb.

In the U.S., where most of this blogs readers seem to live, they still have hunting seasons for various animals.

And don't even get me started on the Far East! You won't believe the things I've seen on sale in their food markets and supermarkets.

We all have skeletons in our closets. Yes, bullfighting is barbaric, but the Spanish are not alone in their deplorable treatment of animals.
