Hi Jim,

Thanks for the comment. Though, if memory serves, 'that' symbol wouldn't be such a bad one to adopt - wasn't the swastika originally a peace sign in the Far East?

But, yes, I get your drift. I think the only thing representative of the current US is green with a picture of Benjamin Franklin on it! (Mind you, that's only representative of a certain demographic. Sadly, a very large, and often powerful demographic!)

Since the USA Flag seems outdated and not really a true representation of the current USA, what would the new Flag look like...

Oh, wait... That flag, That symbol, was already used by the Nazi Fascists...

Guess we'll have to come up with a new design similar to it, the Nazi Fascist flag, and it would become a no-no to wipe your butt with the new "Flag Symbol" least the "new" fascists might get smeared with shat.

Thanks, Glenda. It's always great when you comment as you can add such a unique perspective - I think you're my only regular Australian reader.

It's reassuring to know that the US, UK, and Western countries aren't alone in this and that even nations at the other side of the globe are just as bad as we are. Reassuring, but very saddening. But then it's only to be expected as Australia is so closely related to us. It would be unusual if you were different!

On our summer trip to the US, Ania and I bought a back country pass so we could hike in The Furnace in Arches National Park. For want of a simple description, it's a complex maze of tiny rock canyons. Very beautiful and absolutely fascinating. Very few people visit it. Especially as you have to pay extra, not just the park admission. That didn't stop someone carelessly discarding a water bottle, though, which I took away for recycling. I'd like to think it was dropped accidentally, but how many times do you have to say that to yourself before it rings way too hollow?

But it's the same everywhere - literally! From the Grand Canyon to the Great Wall of China, people revere these magnificent places and yet think nothing of destroying them through nothing but sheer laziness and irresponsibility.

I've seen Uluru on TV. I hope to see it properly one day. I can imagine why you were moved.

Thanks for a fresh insight on another nation. Enjoy your week, Glenda.

The native Americans remind me so much of Australians Indigenous people. White man came, "conqured" and pretty much desecrated their culture, land and way of life.

This ski resort sounds like what we have done to Uluru ( Ayres Rock )
Uluru was "handed back" to the indigenous people in the 1980's by the government. There are signs up everywhere asking people not to climb the rock but when we visited, there were hundreds of tourist's all over it, and leaving rubbish everywhere. This is a sacred site and if you are lucky enough to visit it you can feel the spirits from thousands of years ago. I actually started crying watching people disrespect such a wonderful, spiritual place.

I could go on and on with the way white Australians have treated our first people and the way we think they should live, it's a subject that is very close to my heart.

Great post again Steve.

Hey Peace Dreamer,

It's hard to believe that in an age when everyone is supposed to be environmentally aware - especially professionals who deal with deadly compounds on a daily basis - the best advice you can find to deal with drugs you don't need is to flush them down the toilet.

Unless of course you've got a magic toilet that literally does make things disappear the way many people imagine!

If only we had a few of those dotted around the planet, huh?

And banning herbal remedies is criminal in itself! Isn't aspirin derived from a plant? Or is it whether you can patent a compound of chemicals and make a fat profit or not that matters more than people's health?

I'm pleased to see you believe we're being manipulated and frightened so we're easier to control - you'd be amazed to learn how many people have disagreed with me over that! But then, when you look at the state of the world and how most people don't care, probably you wouldn't be amazed at all.

Thanks for furthering the discussion with some great points, Peace Dreamer.

Hi Steve
Some may not be able to get past those shiney buns lol
but seriously that is gross. I got in an argument with the pharmacist because they won't take meds I didn't need back. She told me to flush em down the toilet.
Well, I said that was really bad advice because of the contamination of ground water. The treatment plants have no way of removing these drugs.
We live in the country and have an old over the hill sewer. We use all natural cleaners but any prescription drugs we are taking will end up somewhere in the ground water. I am working to change all treatments to using herbs. Our Doctor uses holistic and homeopathic treatments but insurance does not pay for those (can't make any money off of them and are trying to outlaw their use, even vitamins!).
Actually, I wish someone would crap on the current president, he deserves it. I believe he is on prozac too.
This country would be more accurately called the Greedy Corporations of America not the United States of America.
There are a lot of big changes needed here and they aren't going to let that be easy. Divide, scare the hell out of, suck them dry of all money and rights and conquer is their motto. They don't give a crap who they hurt!

Good eye catcher title lol
Blessings,
Peace Dreamer

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for your kind comments.

President? Now, as I've said before, this isn't a sales pitch, but read my novel 'What if...?' and see what happens when a humanitarian with power goes up against corporate America and the political carnivores. As you can imagine, it's not a pretty sight! (Shock of shocks, they don't play fair!) Do I really want to put myself through that?

Still, it's nice to know I'd get at least 2 votes!

Yes, making snow out of water from your toilet. Kind of ruins that perfect Christmas image a little, too.

You're right about not enough people speaking out, Joanne. The problem is, so few even know there's anything to speak out against - as you point out. I don't know how we'll ever work things out to get the world we deserve, but if we don't, we'll end up with a world that no one wants because it'll be in such a state.

Thanks for a valuable contribution to the conversation, Joanne. Have a great weekend,
Steve

Hi Steve.... first, I totally LOVE your thoughts, opinions & the truth!! I wish you were here!! What's funny is that I never knew the fake snow was made of of sh... that's actually hysterical.
Personally, I don't ski, but LMAO!! I dream of the day that everyone here in the f-ed up USA would wake up out of their coma and stand up for themselves and each other. It sucks living here, there is no freedom - please! They poison our water just to try and keep everyone in a dazed & confused state, prescriptions drugs just "happen" to be there too.. it's like wtf is going on.
Also about a year ago in Chicago the mayor was trying to pass some ordinance that bottled water could not be sold, or increase taxes for people using bottled water - can you believe it. It was so rediculous and I don't recall the outcome, whether he put one hell of a tax on it or what.
I try not to watch the news too ofter, it just upsets me. But what really pisses me off to no end is that no one will speak out, and if we try and do it just individually, they'll lock you up for life - patriot act ya know. What a joke, I won't even get started on my opinion of that crap. Three quarters of the people here seem to think things are just fine - makes me want to rap them on the head and say wake up. Then to top it off, they make it close to impossible to try and leave the country, like we're trapped here. The economy here is terrible, but of course on the news it says that the white house says the economy is good. Whatever!
And, I agree with Roger - WILL YOU PLEASE RUN FOR PRESIDENT HERE!!!

I must say, it is heartening to see that so many people really are tuned in to what's going on in the world today.

Let's hope it spreads across the internet and through word of mouth, and one day soon we can finally see some changes worth celebrating, changes that don't involve balance sheets, tickertape parades, or nepatistic back slapping by corporate thieves!

Have a great weekend everyone,
