Those readers hoping for philosophical insight into the ways of the world, or a reasoned argument for humanitarian action, will have to wait… Sorry.

For my first, albeit belated, post of 2009, I’m going up-beat.

Most of us are engulfed by gloomy weather, gloomy finances, and gloomy jobs, so here’s a gallery that will banish those worries by bestowing one of life’s greatest gifts…

(In case you haven’t guessed, just check what you’re doing while you’re looking at these photos - yep, smiling of course!)

Now just let me say, these are all beautiful animals but they aren’t necessarily the best animal photos you’ll ever see - for that try National Geographic or something - but, as far as I’m aware, these are all public domain.

So what, I hear you say.

So copy and paste one into an email to brighten up someone’s day! (Better yet, include the link to this post so they can enjoy all of them.)

When the world is filled with such wonder, let’s do all we can to keep it that way, huh?

So go. See. Feel. Live.

If you like my blog - the style, the passion, the philosophy - you’ll absolutely love ‘What if…?’, my suspense thriller. What’s it about?

When a mysterious stranger fights to end world poverty, his seeming ability to heal with just a touch catapults him to fame but thrusts him into a deadly struggle with corporate America and the White House that like the world just the way it is: under their control - poverty, disease, wars and all.

But can the stranger heal? Or is he the biggest villain of all, perpetrating the most elaborate scam of all time?

Is it any good?

‘An engaging and exciting thriller with a difference. It would hold its own with many of the books in the bestseller lists - and then some.’
Scott Pack, Book Reviewer, Me and My Big Mouth

‘”What if…?” is virtually flawless - Lee’s vision is precise, poetic, and skillfully crafted. It’s great writing with a great story, very well told.’
Nicholas Grabowsky, Bestselling Novelist

    Thanks Steve!
It’s nice to see something just joy-filled, just fun. Not that I don’t want your on-going commentary but it’s nice to step back once in a while a see that good things do continue to happen.

    Happy, Happy!

Yes, sometimes the simplest things in life are the most satisfying, aren’t they, T’Chris? I figured I’ve all year to make people think, so decided to simply make them smile this week.

You’re welcome, Diane. I hope all your friends appreciate you sharing.

Glad you liked the post, Terrie. I must say, no matter how many times I look at these photos myself, I simply cannot not smile!

I’m pleased you all liked it. Hope you’re all having a great weekend,

I’m sorry you feel this way about these beautiful moments. Temporary you say? There are always more artistic moments to be had in the future if you are tuned in. Oh well…I will still enjoy your indepth interestingly expressed articles. Thanks for seeing another side of things anyway, for the sake of others and will look forward to more now and then maybe??? Diane, I’m sorry but I don’t understand your comment.

Yes, if you look, you should be able to find something to marvel at every single day, but with the pressures of life, not many of us can realistically manage that. Hence the use of the word ‘temporary’ wherever that was.

I post ‘feel good’ stories every so often or haven’t you checked the archive - off the top of my head, there’s a conservation one that started this blog and two environmental ones from late last year.

    Thanks for dropping in.

Although I haven’t posted for a while, I continue to read and look forward to all your blogs, which are always so interesting and thought provoking.

Thanks for posting these beautiful pictures, and making me remember that sometimes its the simplest of moments in life that we find most pleasure.

Best wishes for the New Year

Please don’t worry about not having commented for a while, Liz. While I appreciate all the comments I get, I don’t want people to feel obliged to leave one, so say something just for the sake of it. I’m pleased you find my posts a good read, though.

Yes, it’s amazing how something as simple as a photograph can make us positively glow inside, isn’t it?

Happy New Year to you, too. (And to everyone.)

Steve ~ With all the problems and ugliness in the world, these photos tell of a loving, beautiful, inspiring solution for us all…to LIVE, LOVE, CARE, COMFORT, LAUGH and be happy! Thank you so much for this powerful message.

    Thanks Steve,
Rather uplifting in these trying times, lest we forget our charge as stewards of the creation.
    JAH!

  18. Roxann CNo Gravataron 29 Jan 2009 at 3:57 am

Steve, Thank you for the smiles and laughs. This is a very stressful trying time for all of us.

  19. KathyNo Gravataron 29 Jan 2009 at 9:17 am

Our little Honey used to be one of those pillow eating dogs.
Not so cute when you come home to a house really looking like this.
The good news is my Steve still hasn’t missed his Purdue University pillow:) Honey no longer eats pillows, but she still steals my blanket off the bed and sleep with it (on it) whenever I leave.

I’m thrilled I made your day, Dalia. Yes, these animals, some of which have real stories to tell (see Top 10 Reasons Why Bestiality is Beautiful!) but us to shame with their compassion and love for one another.

Thanks for such a heartfelt comment.

Pamylle, I still can’t help but smile when I look at them - and I’ve been looking at them for a week! - so I can imagine how they lift your spirit. I’m pleased. That was the aim.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

You are very, very welcome, Marion. And so right - the world needs beauty when it is constantly bombarded by such ugliness.

Thanks for adding to the conversation.

Pamela, you are welcome. Glad you found them so moving. Thanks for stopping by.

Lest we forget indeed, Jonathan. If we do, if we forsake such beauty in the quest to satisfy our greed, the human race will surely be doomed!

    Thanks for furthering the conversation.

That was the goal of this post, Roxann. Thanks for confirming I hit it.

    Thanks for dropping in.

Not so cute at the time, but I bet you can’t help but smile about it now, Kathy. Yes, they can be such little devils but thank heavens that most of the time they’re little angels in disguise!

    Thanks for commenting.

Absolutely Wonderful, Steve!! I’m so glad you are back, I was missing your essays. Thanks for the beautiful animals, they definitely made me smile!

  24. Steve N. LeeNo Gravataron 29 Jan 2009 at 11:54 am

That’s so kind of you to say, Elainna. Thank you.

The problem was that my posting day is Thursday and both Christmas Day and New Years Day were Thursday, so I never intended to post on those days. Then I had a short break away. Then I fell ill with a flu-like virus… Before I knew it, a month had gone by.

Still, everything’s up and running again now. And while I don’t want to spoil the surprise of what today’s post will bring… If you liked this post, you’ll love the new one that’ll be going up in just a few hours!

Thanks for your kind words, Elainna.

Glad I could be of service, Bonnie, and I’m happy the post proved to be the pick-me-up that I hoped it would be.

Hope you soon find a solution to whatever it is that’s causing your problems.
