There’s so much doom and gloom everywhere, I figured I’d spread a little joy by delivering good news of environmental triumphs from around the globe.

Why are these environmental projects important?
Simple.
The Political Economy Research Institute reported recently that a $100 billion investment in green initiatives could create two million jobs, lowering U.S. unemployment from 5.7 to 4.4%.
California’s Air Resources Board report states: “Taking strong measures to reduce greenhouse gasses… would result in 100,000 new jobs [in California and] boost the state economy by $27 billion.”
To build on this research, Google has proposed the Clean Energy 2030 plan. The problem is it will cost a mind-blowing $4.3 trillion dollars. (And we all thought $700 billion was a huge number!) There’s obviously no way we’ll ever afford it.
No?
By investing in more efficient systems, this plan will SAVE $5.4 trillion. You don’t need to be a mathematics genius to see 5.4 is bigger than 4.3! Is there any way we can’t NOT afford it?!
See, by pursuing greener lifestyles, not only do we get to keep a stunningly beautiful world to enjoy, but in doing so, it saves us money. So what exactly are we waiting for?

Wind Farms, Wind Farms, Everywhere…

|
New Jersey plans to install 96 wind turbines 16 miles offshore to produce enough electricity to power 125,000 homes.
Likewise, Delaware will create an offshore farm of 150 turbines to power 100,000 homes.
By creating wind farms miles out at see, planners hope to overcome that age-old objection to them - they’re just so damned ugly! If no one can see them, that old ‘not in my backyard’ argument simply evaporates. |

Solar Thermal - Bigger is Better

|
| Australia is set to create the world’s largest solar thermal plant capable of generating 100,000 homes by using the sun’s radiation to power steam turbines. Australia is aiming at producing a whopping 40% of it’s energy in this way by 2020. |

Norway: A Rainforest’s Best Friend

|
Okay, strictly speaking this news came just a few days before Big Ben’s bells announced the arrival of 2008, but, hey, is good news ever too late or too early?
Those wily Norwegians believe reducing deforestation in developing countries can quickly and inexpensively reduce climate change. To prove it, Norway is putting its money where its mouth is: it’s pledged $500 million per year to save the world’s rainforests. |

Breaking news – Leeds, Northern England. Terrorist attack devastates region’s biggest sports stadium. Thousands confirmed dead.
Just moments ago, a terrorist attack demolished Leeds United Football Club’s Elland Road stadium where tens of thousands of children were attending a Larry the Lion’s Africa Appeal rally.

Children had journeyed from all over England to celebrate their raising of over £1,000,000 to fight Third World hunger. Eye witness reports say just minutes into the festivities a series of ground-shaking explosions devastated the stadium’s support structure.
While the ferocious blasts killed hundreds instantly, before the surviving children could be evacuated, the stadium’s gigantic 17,000-seat East Stand collapsed, its roof crashing tons of steel and concrete down onto a stadium filled to capacity. Seconds later, the Revie Stand collapsed, too. Estimates say upwards of 24,000 children are feared dead.

What kind of monsters slaughter their fellow man? But slaughter children!?
- This is the greatest disaster England has ever suffered.
- The greatest nightmare Europe has ever seen.
- In deed, possibly the greatest atrocity to ever strike the entire world.
Monsters.
They should be tied down and have wild dogs set upon them!
Monsters. Is there any other word for it? Continue Reading »

Can we blame all the world’s problems on politicians? You bet we can! And here’s why.
But can we fix the world’s problems? You bet we can! And here’s how.
Recently, President Bush blamed the Democrats for gasoline prices crucifying the American economy. (And it is bad. Between August 2007 and July 2008 I witnessed prices rise over 60% from an average of $2.70 to $4.40.)

But Bush is the most powerful man on Earth. Why should he blame the opposition?
Because they stopped him allowing companies to asphalt Yellowstone Park and drill for oil. Yep, the Democrats protected the environment! Evil, America-hating b*stards!
Okay, so it wasn’t Yellowstone, but it might as well have been: it was some pristine wilderness that Bush wanted to lay waste to.
Sadly, this is nothing new: in every country, in every age, politicians have crucified the world since, well, since politicians emerged!
As for the oil crisis, they’d have us believe they were powerless to protect us. Were they? Continue Reading »

Kids! What the hell do they know? Loud, lazy, disrespectful, trouble causers. Like we can ever learn anything from kids!

So why do I suggest you waste 6 minutes of your life watching the video below which features just an ordinary bunch of kids from an ordinary school?

(WARNING: this post contains images some readers may find shocking.)Simple proof of what’s wrong with the world and how to save it.
Recently, I described the joy of rescuing Sarah, an orphaned crow, from certain death. However, not everyone was moved by my heart-warming endeavours. And this perfectly illustrates the root of all the world’s ills and what we can do to stop it.

Is it possible to change the world by doing absolutely nothing?
Some people are just so lazy. They’d like to change the world, but it’s just such hard work! Isn’t there an easy option that involves doing absolutely squat?
Let’s see… What if…?
What if you threw a party and no one came?
